Pigmented Lesions and Sun Damage

The Apogee Elite laser is designed to permanently treat superficial brown blemishes such as sun spots (also known as age spots or liver spots), freckles and flat pigmented moles.

These spots are high concentrations of melanin in one area of the skin caused by various factors.

Some types are present at birth, but most occur with age or as a result of overexposure to the sun's damaging rays.

Although most brown spots are easily ignored, many are quite conspicuous and can detract from your skin's natural beauty.

We invite you to come in for a consultation, we will examine the area in need of treatment and provide you with an assessment in order to choose the proper treatment option.

There are many types of pigmentation -
  • Epidermal (superficial), These are generally on the surface of the skin, and therefore easier to remove and usually made up of solar lentigenes and freckles.
  • Dermal (Deep) and Mixed Dermal/Epidermal.
How soon can I resume my daily activities?
You can resume all of your daily activities immediately after treatment. You should however avoid sun exposure for 4-6 weeks and wear a sunblock on a daily basis.
Are there any side effects?
The spots will appear darker post treatment, forming a slight scab which will then slough off within 5-14 days.
You will experience some reddening immediately after treatment, this typically goes away within 1 hours. On rare occasions, some blistering or bruising may occur, but typically resolves quickly. The skin may also become lighter or darker following treatment, but will generally return to normal within a few weeks. Limiting the sun exposure before and after treatments will minimize risk of complications.
Can all skin types be treated?
Yes, the laser treatment offers you customized treatment according to your skin color and texture.
What I need to do before treatment?
Avoid sun exposure for about 4-6 weeks prior to treatment and wear a daily sunblock lotion especially after treatment.
