The newly acquired "Apogee Elite Laser System" by Uspa in 2005, is an aesthetic workstation which combines high-powered 1064 nm Nd:YAG and 755 nm Alexandrite laser to create a high performance system for use on all skin types, including tanned skin. The "Elite" allows us to provide today's most popular procedures such as the removal of unwanted hair, treatment of pigmentation lesions, and laser FACIAL for sun damage skin.

PROGRESSIVE EPILATION

All hairs are not growing at the same time. Hair follicle grow actively in cyclic and each hair follicle behaves independently. An average of 20 percent of hair are in the active growth phase (Anagen stage) at any giving time. Therefore, during a laser session, only those hairs properly treated are destroyed. The duration of the alternating rest periods (Catagen and Telogen stage) can last up to six months dependently on the body site. Gradually, those follicles reactivate. Regular treatments are necessary in order to progressively target hair in the growth phase. Permanency is ultimately achieved with regular treatments. Results using the "Apogee Elite Laser System" are permanent on properly treated follicles that are producing hair during the course of treatments.

WHAT SHOULD I LOOK FOR IN SELECTING A LASER FACILITY?

Experience is crucial in selecting the proper laser parameters to use, for any given area and for every individual client. The facilities with the most experience generally have the best results. Professional facilities will provide you with an in-depth consultation. We encourage you in shopping around and familiarize yourself on what's on the market. It is also important to ask during the consultation the credentials of the technician performing the treatment, How much training does he or she has received? What certificate do they possess? How long have they been in the industry? Do they rent or own their laser? Do they have a scanner? What kind of laser are they using? Is the price to good to be true compare to other clinics and are they promising hair reduction or permanent hair removal? Is the consultation given by a certify technician?, Are they willing to backup what they promise?. Hopefully this will help you in your search in order to find what's right for you.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Hair grows in three stages. Laser technology is designed to treat hair in its anagen "active phase" of growth: Highly concentrated light is transmitted 1-5 millimeters into the skin. The light targets the melanin, or pigment, in hair follicles while they are in their active phase. The hair absorbs the light, where it is converted into heat, causing thermal damage to the follicle without harming the surrounding tissue. Only these hairs  (anagen  stage) potentially can be permanently destroyed. The follicle is disabled and hair re-growth is impaired.

IS IT PAINFUL?
Some clients say it feels like the quick snap of a rubber band. The treated area will be cooled for increased comfort.

IS IT SAFE?
Laser Hair Removal treatments at Uspa are extremely safe, Maria Perez has accumulated over 5 years experience in laser treatments for long term hair removal and possesses over 23 years of experience in aesthetics and electrolysis.

HOW MANY APPOINTMENTS DO I NEED?
The number of sessions required in order to satisfy the aesthetic expectation of the client is dependent on several factors such as, hair density, body region and the diverse hair colors within the treatment area. The number of session will vary depending on the clients expectations! Results using the "Apogee Elite Laser System" are permanent on properly treated follicles that are producing hair during the course of treatment. Because Laser Hair Removal is only effective on actively growing hair follicles, treatments should be spaced apart so that the hair follicles that were not in the active growing phase in the area have time to re-grow again before being treated. If the treatment is given to soon, that particular treatment will not be effective. During the consultation we will explain and built a time schedule for the treatment to be carried out.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKES FOR A TREATMENT?
The length of time required depends on the size of the treated area. For instance an upper lip treatment may take up to 5 minutes, where  full legs treatment could be up to 45 minutes. Treatments tend to go more rapidly after each successive treatment.

WHAT WILL THE TREATED AREA LOOK LIKE?
Immediately after treatment, the area may appear slightly red in color and may feel like a mild sunburn. This sensation will subside over a few hours.

WHAT AREAS CAN I TREAT WITH LASER TO REMOVE UNWANTED HAIR?
Any area of the body can be treated, except for eyelashes.
